The Commitment on Course Material Development

There is need to develop comprehensive course material for our new PhD in Aquaculture and Fisheries program at Bunda College, University of Malawi, for our day to day teaching and training activities. In view of this, I am committing my time and energies to come up with well thought and articulate course material for the two courses I am intending to teach from August 2009. These courses include AQF621 Fish Nutrition and Feed Technology, and AQF637 Fish Quality Management. However, there is another course that is supposed to be shared in teaching with a colleague in the department that needs a combined and concerted effort to develop material for this course.

I will use the Open Distance Learning (ODL) template to do this exercise. Since we have already started our course development exercise during the course at Entebbe, the knowledge will further be expanded to complete the course materials for the intended courses.

Dealing with challenges:
It is anticipated that there will be some challenges in the process in terms of getting appropriate information into the courses. This include creating some time to work, reading, downloading information and so forth. These challenges are real as I have a lot of other activities to accomplish within specified time limit. However, with good motivation, I will make sure I plan in such a way that each and every activity is accomplished within time. That mean working odd hours trying to clear the load!!!!
